Husband charged with stabbing his wife and sending an infant to the hospital in Pinellas Park hazmat incident

Pinellas Park Police along with with firefighters from multiple agencies were dispatched to a hazmat incident at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11260 US-19 N.

Police were initially called to the Clear Harbor Apartment complex in regards to a male subject, later identified as 41 year-old Keyuhn Chambers, who went to a neighbor asking for a pistol. According to arrest records, the neighbor asked him why he needed a pistol and he replied saying, “family problems.” He then came back and stated he had killed someone and “going to burn this bitch down.” A maintenance man man went to the residence after neighbors complained of loud noises and blood in the breezeway of the complex. Chambers refused to answer the door and stated he was feeding the infant in the home. He further advised that that the adult victim was not available as she was in the shower. Chambers exited the apartment with a bandage on his arm and blood on this shoes, according to the maintenance man.

Officers arrived to apartment #103 as a 911 call for a hazardous materials incident was being received. In addition to the blood, officers noted a chemical odor emitting described as gasoline from the interior of the apartment. The officers heard what sounded like a baby crying inside and they entered the apartment. Chambers was no longer on-scene when officers arrived.

An adult female, 32 year-old Chrystal Williams, was located in the apartment with multiple stab wounds from a butcher knife. She was transported to Northside Hospital where she died from her injuries. The baby, a 4 month-old female, was located with a white plastic trash bag over her head and was transported to All Children’s Hospital. According to police, the baby is in stable condition and has no reported injuries.

The first two first responders on-scene, one firefighter and police officer, were transported to the hospital for inhalation of the unknown chemical and have since been released.

Keyuhn Chambers and Chrystal Williams were married in 2018 according to public records. The events leading up to the incident remain under investigation. The 4 month-old infant is the child of a friend of Chrystal Williams. The infant was returned to the custody of her parents.

According to arrest documentation, Chambers provided an alternative narrative for the incident. He claims he arrived home and located a black male in the apartment which resulted in a “scuffle.” He stated the man attacked him with a 7-8 inch knife as he fled the scene. Chambers advised he found Williams in the main bedroom with what appeared to be stab wounds. He stated he remove the knife from her body and placed it in his car before fleeing on foot with Williams cellphone.

Chambers was located near the 6100 block of 102nd Avenue N with blood stained clothes and wounds consistent with a knife on his right hand.

Chambers was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on one count of First Degree Murder and one county of Attempted First Degree Murder.
