No serious injuries when driver runs red light slamming into side of ambulance in Tampa

Tampa Police investigate a traffic crash involving an ambulance. The crash occurred at approximately 8:46 a.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at N 15th Street and E. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd.

A TransCare ambulance was westbound on E MLK Blvd and entered the intersection when a 2016 Ford Fusion, traveling southbound on N. 15th St., ran the red light. The Fusion struck the ambulance, causing the ambulance to roll over on its side.

The TransCare ambulance had a patient on board, along with a family member, and two EMTs. There were no serious injuries to the occupants of the ambulance. Another ambulance was dispatched to continue the transport.

The Ford Fusion was occupied by two people and both denied injuries. The driver of the Ford Fusion was cited for running a red light.

Westbound MLK was closed during the investigation, however, has since reopened.
