Off-duty security guard accidently shoots himself in leg at the Clearwater Beach Hilton

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to an incident involving an accidental discharge of a gun. The call came in shortly after 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Hilton located at 400 Mandalay Ave.

Police say an off-duty security guard sustained a leg injury after his gun accidentally went off.

This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. The man was flown to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment.
