Officer Involved Shooting in Pasco County Closing Parts of US-19

Pasco deputies are investigating a shooting in New Port Richey where they returned fire on a suspect who fired upon them first. They received the call at 7:40 p.m.

The incident occurred at U.S 19 and Gulf Blvd.  IONTB is receiving reports of northbound lane blockage.

Preliminary information indicates a 36 year-old male was shot multiple times in the legs by two deputies after he shot at them.

One of the deputies was hit in the leg but was fortunately not seriously injured as the suspect’s weapon was a pellet gun.

The suspect has been transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s Office will be holding a press conference at 10 p.m.
