Deputies were dispatched just prior to 7pm Monday evening for a possible shooting at the Carribbean Isles Mobile Home Park, Lot 245. The MHP is located at 12100 Seminole Blvd.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Communication Center kept the caller online to assist in facilitation of securing the scene for arriving Deputies.  At times there was just a open line and the possibility of two injured individuals.

Crews from both Seminole and Largo Fire Rescue and Sunstar were called into the scene once the firearm was secured by PCSO Deputies and contact was made with the injured male with a gunshot wound to the neck.  Paramedics quickly requested Bayflite to assist in transporting the patient to a local trauma center.  A landing zone was established at the Seminole Recreation Center.  The wounded patient was brought to the air transport unit and then safely flown to the trauma center.

Detectives have arrested 55 year-old William Chalmers for Attempted Murder after he shot his daughter’s fiancee, 46 year-old John Burrows, following a verbal dispute.

According to investigators, Burrows and his fiancee 34-year-old Patricia Groves became involved in a verbal dispute regarding Burrows’ drinking. At some point, Chalmers, told them to stop, and subsequently became engaged in a verbal exchange with Burrows.

Detectives say during the exchange Chalmers made threatening remarks to the victim and pulled out a gun. Burrow retreated into a bedroom of the mobile home and shut the door. Detectives say Chalmers followed him to just outside the room.

In an effort to calm things down, Groves stood in front of the door between Chalmers and Burrows (who was inside the room).

Investigator say Chalmers than fired a shot through the door, striking Burrows in the neck.
