One pedestrian dead and another injured after crash on St. Pete Beach

On October 16, 2022 at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team responded to 709 Gulf Way in St. Pete Beach to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

According to investigators, 21 year-old Jolee-Ana Rose Eaton was traveling west on 8th Avenue attempting to make a left hand turn to travel south on to Gulf way.

Two pedestrians, 68-year-old Maria Rodriguez and 56-year-old Lynn Gilliland were crossing west to east on Gulf Way, not in a designated crosswalk, when they were struck with Eaton’s 2005 Nissan Pathfinder in the center of the roadway.

Rodriguez was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gilliland was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased.

According to investigators, speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
