One pedestrian killed and another seriously injured in crash while crossing 62nd Avenue in St. Petersburg

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department continue to investigate a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m., on Saturday, March 12, 2022 in the 900 block of 62nd Avenue N in St. Petersburg.

A 23 year-old Largo man was operating a grey Chevrolet Cruze eastbound in the curb lane of the 900 block of 62 Avenue North. Two pedestrians, Sean Lee Lewis, age 52 and Michelle Ann Lewis, age 53, both of St. Petersburg were crossing in the 900 block of 62 Avenue North, mid-block, from north to south.

The driver of the vehicle failed to notice the two pedestrians crossing the roadway and struck them while they were in the south curb lane.

Sean Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel. Michelle Lewis was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries and is now in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
