Palm Harbor Man Dies in Crash on I-275 Approaching the Howard Frankland Bridge
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 20 year-old Palm Harbor man.
The crash occurred on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at approximately 6:41 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-275 near 4th Street N.
FHP reports that 20 year-old Gabriel A. Matthews was driving a 2002 Chevy Cavalier when his left rear tire failed as he passed 4th Street. Â This resulted in him losing control of the Chevy, departing the roadway into the shoulder, and colliding with a overhead sign pole.
Matthews was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he died from his injuries.
