Pedestrian critically injured in crash in front of Largo Central Park

First responders from Largo Fire Rescue and Largo Police responded to reports of a vehicle crash at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

The vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash occurred in the 100 block of East Bay Drive in front of Largo Central Park.

According to Largo Police, the initial investigation indicates an adult male stepped out from the bus stop into eastbound traffic on East Bay Drive. The pedestrian was struck by an oncoming pickup truck in the right lane. The pedestrian was flown to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg by Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital LifeLine.

Investigators say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor with the driver of the truck. The investigation is still ongoing. The Largo Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to the scene and all eastbound lanes are currently shut down at Seminole Blvd/Missouri Avenue.
