36 year-old Matthew Stolzman was traveling north in a silver 2006 Honda Accord in the median lane. The pedestrian was crossing from west to east across US19 and had just cleared the southbound lanes, jumped the concrete median and was trying to cross northbound traffic when he ended up in the path of the Honda.

The pedestrian, identified as 30 year-old Neil E. Ventimiglia received fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. No charges have been filed at present, and the investigation remains active.

There were questions initially about who struck the pedestrian who was found in the roadway. A short time later, Stolzman drove back to the scene and was questioned by LPD.  Officers were conducting a sobriety check as part of the investigation. Damage to the bumper and windshield of the vehicle was evident.
