Pinellas Deputies Arrest Three After Shot Fired Inside Oldsmar Walmart

A 22 year-old Riverview woman was arrested after firing her .22 caliber revolver at the Oldsmar Walmart location early Tuesday morning.

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched based on reports of an armed person at the Walmart location at 3801 Tampa Road in Oldsmar, Florida shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.

A 911 call was received from the assistant store manager reporting that a woman discharged her firearm in the store. The bullet penetrated a display case in the sporting goods department.

Ashlee Farris arrested for discharging a firearm in the Oldsmar Walmart

The woman, 22 year-old Ashlee Farris of Riverview, Florida, reportedly entered into the Walmart carrying a concealed .22 caliber revolver and approached the sporting goods counter to purchase ammunition.

According to police, Farris, while speaking with the Walmart employee at the counter, displayed the firearm in a negligent manner when inquiring how to unload it and how to check what type of ammo it uses. While she was handling the firearm, it discharged a bullet into nearby merchandise. She fled, leaving her cellphone and jacket on the counter.

Deputies made contact with Farris while she sat in an Ford pickup truck in the parking lot.

Farris initially led deputies to believe that the armed woman remained in the store and was looking to buy ammunition then fired the shot.  Farris also indicated that the armed female was in the store with a male having an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

After further review of surveillance video and discussions with witnesses, it was determined that Farris was the subject that fired the weapon.  The firearm was also located in a bag within the vehicle.

Deputies were able to make contact with two other individuals in the store.

Bruce Renner arrested for possession of a concealed weapon by a felon

25 year-old Bruce Renner of Seffner was taken into custody for carrying a concealed weapon (knife) by a convicted felon and resisting arrest.  Renner did have a warrant out of Hillsborough County for Failure to Appear on Traffic Charges.  Deputies were initially unable to verify Renner’s identify due to fact that he provided a false name and date of birth when asked.

Summer Jahn charged with possession of drugs without a prescription

20 year-old Summer Jahn of Seffner was located and charged with possession of prescription drugs without a prescription. The search of her purse revealed several items including clothing, paint and other stolen miscellaneous items according to police.

The investigation continues.
