Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an apparent murder-suicide shooting involving an adult male and adult female, who were husband and wife.
On September 21, 2020 at approximately 12:57 p.m., deputies responded to 1540 Huntleigh Court in Oldsmar, after receiving a complaint that a gunshot was heard at the location earlier that morning.
Once deputies arrived on-scene, they entered the home due to suspicious circumstances.
Detectives say deputies discovered 41-year-old Shawna Katz deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies also found 53-year-old John Katz deceased in the same room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Detectives believe John Katz shot Shawna Katz and then took his own life.
John Katz is listed as franchise owner of Jimmy Hula’s according to Linkedin account.
Next of kin has been notified.
This is the second such incident in the as many days in the Tampa Bay area. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a domestic murder suicide at the Sawgrass Creek Apartments in New Port Richey.
