Pinellas Detectives Arrest Largo Man For Kidnapping Two Year-Old Boy
Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Largo man after he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend’s two year old child and rammed a car to get away.
According to detectives, at about 10:04 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018, deputies were called to the residence of 26-year-old Jasmine Golden for a domestic disturbance located at 13051 125th Street North, in unincorporated Largo.
When deputies arrived, Golden told deputies her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Johnny Wise, became angry after a verbal argument and broke several windows in her home.
Golden told deputies that Wise threatened to shoot her and then kidnapped her 2-year-old child, Christopher Matthews. Wise fled the residence with Matthews in a 1997 Buick LeSabre.
Detectives say Jasmine Golden’s step-father, 59 year-old Raymond Golden, witnessed the incident and followed Wise to the intersection of 6th Street SW and 4th Avenue SW, in his 2007 Nissan Frontier truck.
When Raymond pulled up behind Wise in his truck, Wise placed the Buick in reverse and accelerated at a high rate of speed intentionally crashing into Raymond’s truck.
The crash caused significant damage to Raymond’s vehicle but he was uninjured.
After ramming Raymond’s truck, Wise fled from the intersection in the Buick and bailed out of the vehicle with Matthews near the intersection of West Bay Drive and Ridge Road SW.
Deputies from the K-9 Unit and the Flight Unit responded and tried tracking Wise with no success.
While eluding deputies, Wise made contact with a family member of the child and safely released Matthews to their custody. The child was uninjured.
Deputies were unable to locate Wise.
At about 9:34 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018, detectives from the Violent Offender Warrant Unit located and arrested Wise near a residence located at 1327 Williams Drive, Largo.
Wise was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with one count of Kidnapping, One count of Attempted Felony Murder, one count of Criminal Mischief, three counts of Violation of Probation- Sale of Cocaine, three counts of Violation of Probation- Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Violation of Probation- Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell.
