Pinellas Park Police investigating fatal crash involving a pedestrian

The Pinellas Park Police Department continues to investigate a crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian, 57 year-old David S. Martin.

Officers responded to the area of Park Boulevard and 52nd Street N after receiving a call from Martin at approximately 3:22 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020. He advised a dispatcher that he was highly intoxicated and needed assistance. Based on this phone call, crews from the Pinellas Park Fire Rescue Department were dispatched to the area to assist officers.

While first responders were trying to locate Martin, a crash could be heard at the intersection of Park Blvd and 52
Street.

First responders responded to the intersection and located Martin’s body in the roadway at 52nd Street and Park Boulevard. Martin died at the scene.

The driver of the involved vehicle, a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, reportedly waved down an officer and remained in the area following the crash.

Police say the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.

Police say that there are no charges at this time but the investigation is ongoing and charges are listed as pending.
