Pinellas Park Police Investigating Serious Injury Crash Involving PSTA Bus on Gandy Boulevard

Officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department responded to a crash at Gandy Blvd and Grand Ave at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018.

The crash involvedĀ a Honda Civic and a PSTA bus.

Through the investigation it was learned that a black Honda Civic, driven by 31 year-old Brian Hannum, was traveling westbound on Gandy Blvd. approaching Grand AvenueĀ in in the curb lane, directly behind a PSTA bus.

The bus was slowing forĀ traffic while the Honda Civic was moving into the right turn lane.Ā  The CivicĀ failed to vacate the curb lane in time and struck the right rear of the bus. Hannum was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Hospital with life-threateningĀ injuries. As of 10 p.m., he was reportedly in critical condition.

The PSTA bus was occupied by two passengers and the driver, 54 year-old Yolanda Gibson. She was transported to an area hospital after complaining of injury.

Traffic homicide investigators are on the scene.

The roadway was down to two travel lanes for approximately 2 hours.
