Police investigating a fatal shooting in St. Petersburg

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police departent are investigating a homicide.

Police received a call of a shooting in the 2100 block of 17th Avenue South at approximately 9:33 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.

Upon arrival, officers found 47-year-old Qareeb Muhammad lying in a field and confirmed he had been shot.

The victim was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died from his injuries.

17th Avenue S is closed due to the ongoing investigation.
