A 29-year-old man was killed following a shooting early Monday morning near downtown St. Petersburg, according to police.
Investigators say the shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. near 1st Avenue North and Beach Drive Northeast. Officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area and located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
St. Petersburg Fire Rescue transported the man to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries several hours later.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Peter-Austin Afentakis.
Investigators are continuing to search for the suspect involved in the shooting. Additional details about what led up to the altercation have not been released.
