During a press conference held at noon Tuesday, the Clearwater Police Department announced the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect in connection with Sunday’s shooting on Clearwater Beach.

Police said Noel Marsh III was taken into custody in Haines City at approximately 7:45 p.m. Monday. He is charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Discharging a Firearm in Public, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Minor. Marsh fired seven shots according to investigators.

Investigators said the conflict between the suspect’s group and the victim’s group began about a month ago in Winter Haven. According to detectives, tensions between the groups were fueled by social media disputes and issues related to local parties.

Authorities said a physical altercation occurred between members of the two groups shortly before the shooting.

The victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries to his arm, leg, and chest and is expected to recover.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Clearwater Police Department.
