Officers from the Tarpon Springs Police continue to investigate a crash that killed a pedestrian. The crash occurred on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at approximately 5:26 p.m.
Fire rescue crews and police responded to the call for service for a vehicle versus a pedestrian crash at shelter #4 in the park located at 39699 US Hwy 19.
Arriving unit observed a female teen tending to an adult old male, later identified as her father.
Paramedics worked to revive the man who later died at Advent Health of North Pinellas hospital.
Investigators say that the father was showing his daughter how to properly park the vehicle which is a 2017 Ford
F-150 pick-up truck. The father exited the vehicle as the daughter pulled into a parking space. The father then stood in front of the vehicle and the daughter was about to back up, but unintentionally hit the accelerator as the vehicle was still in drive. The vehicle went over a parking curb and stuck the father, then struck a tree. This crash is still under investigation.
It’s sickening that you would report something like this publicly. This poor girl has to mourn the loss of her father and process what happened. She doesn’t need to google this and read it again for years to come. This story isn’t ‘news’ it’s a cheap and deplorable attempt to grab attention for your own profit. Shame on you and IOTB for releasing it… If you aren’t creative enough to report necessary new stories to keep the public informed perhaps you should consider a different career.
Concur. This story should be taken down immediately. It’s not “news”, it’s tabloid trash.
Take this down you sick twisted people to put this out there- it is a private family matter and it’s nobody’s business. This poor girl is probably devastated out of her mind with grief. You are sick to have ever printed this.
