Police Say Man Died After Striking a Curb on his Motor Scooter, Alcohol Involved

Kevin Daigle, age 31, died in a crash that occurred on Saturday, July 13, shortly before 10 p.m.

According to St. Petersburg Police, Daigle was operating a Chongqing Astronautical Bashan scooter northbound on 58th Street North.

For an unknown reason, the scooter locked the brakes, drifted toward the east side of the roadway and struck a curb just south of 29th Avenue North.

Daigle was thrown to the ground and was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m.

Poloce say that Daigle was not wearing a helmet and alcohol was a factor in this crash.
