Rollover crash on I-175 ramp in St. Petersburg leaves one dead and one seriously injured

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue investigating a fatality crash that occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023. The crash happened on the I-175 entrance ramp to southbound I-275 in St. Petersburg.

A 35-year-old male driver of a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on I-175 and while negotiating the southbound entrance ramp to I-275, he lost control of the pickup.

The vehicle rotated to the shoulder and overturned multiple times at which time the driver and one passenger, a 36-year-old male, both unrestrained, where ejected from the pickup.

The driver was transported to the trauma center at Bayfront Health with serious injuries.

The male passenger suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

A 30-year-old female restrained passenger was not injured in the crash.

As of 7:50 a.m., the ramp reopened to all traffic.
