A four-vehicle crash on southbound I-275 Thursday morning left one driver seriously injured and closed the interstate for more than two hours, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:10 a.m. on September 10, 2026, as a Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound onto I-275 from the SR-589/SR-60 interchange.
FHP said the 42-year-old St. Petersburg man driving the Tundra lost control for an unknown reason. The pickup entered the shoulder and struck a crash attenuator before rotating back into the path of traffic on southbound I-275.
A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 71-year-old St. Petersburg man, then collided with the Tundra, causing the Tundra to overturn.
Debris from the crash entered the path of two other southbound vehicles, a Dodge Ram van and a Ford Bronco, both of which struck the debris.
The driver of the Tundra suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital via Bayflite. The Silverado driver suffered minor injuries and was also transported.
A 30-year-old Tampa man drove the Dodge Ram van, and a 30-year-old Tampa man was a passenger. Neither was injured. A 31-year-old Tampa woman drove the Ford Bronco and was also not injured.
The crash closed the southbound lanes of I-275 until approximately 1:15 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
