Twin Engine Aircraft Crashes into Car in St. Petersburg

Update October 19, 2017
The pilot, 36 year-old Manuel Izquierdo was treated at the scene and transported to Bayfront Health of St. Petersburg.  He has since been released.

The passenger of the aircraft, 50 year-old Ronald Bizick was treated at the scene and transported to Bayfront Health of St. Petersburg.  He has since been released.

The driver of black SUV, 34 year-old Kimberly Grooms was treated and transported to Bayfront Health of St. Petersburg,  Her current status is unknown at this time.

The driver of the gray SUV, 63 year-old Alphonsine Dean and juvenile passenger were treated and released at the scene.

The investigation into the plane crash is being handled by a FAA Investigator.

Units from St. Petersburg Police and Fire Rescue are just responding to reports of a aircraft down.

The initial reports indicate it involved a 1978 Cessna 402B, twin engine aircraft, that crashed in the area of 18th Ave S and 16th St.

At this time only minor injuries are reported. Five people are being evaluated after two vehicle were struck when the plane crashed.

Appears two people were in the aircraft.

Powerlines are down and road closures are reported in the area.

Very minimal amount of fuel was in plane and contained by crews from St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.

Cessna left Tampa International Airport at 3:27pm. Pilot flew over Honeymoon Island and down the Pinellas coastline. Aircraft cut inland toward Albert Whitted and crashed at about 3:43 pm
