A 27-year-old St. Petersburg woman who worked at Wendy’s was arrested after allegedly approaching a customer at a nearby McDonald’s while holding a handgun, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police said the incident began at approximately 8:06 p.m. on October 21, 2026, when the customer placed an order at the Wendy’s at 1115 34th Street North. The customer told investigators he decided not to complete the order after an unpleasant interaction with the employee and drove across the street to the McDonald’s at 1020 34th Street North.
The customer, who had his child in the vehicle, told police he heard a noise and saw the Wendy’s employee get out of her car and approach his vehicle while holding a black handgun in her left hand. He said he feared she would use the weapon and believed it was real.
McDonald’s surveillance video reportedly showed the woman driving up, getting out of her vehicle with a gun, and approaching the customer’s vehicle while holding it in what the affidavit described as an aggressive manner. The firearm was recovered with nine rounds, police said.
Asia Tynise Deshea Ashley was arrested October 22 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The charge alleges she threatened the customer with a semi-automatic handgun but did not intend to kill him.
