According to St. Petersburg Police (SPPD), a police cruiser was rear-ended by an impaired driver on Central Avenue near 31st Street at about 8:35PM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

The officer had parked his cruiser with the lights on, behind a disabled car while it waited for a tow truck.

While the officer was sitting in the cruiser, 57 year-old Cathy Ann Moloney of St. Petersburg rear-ended the police cruiser.

Moloney was arrested for DUI after she exhibited signs of impairment and a breath alcohol content showed a level over twice the legal limit.  She was previous arrested and convicted for DUI in March of 2007 in Pinellas County.

The officer was not seriously hurt, but was taken to Bayfront Health to be checked out according to SPPD.
