The St. Petersburg Police Department are investigating after discovering what is believed to be a murder suicide at Trellis at the Lakes Apartment Complex, 11401 Dr. MLK Jr. Street N., Building 39, Apt. 3913.
Police received a call at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022 to check on the welfare of a father and his young son at the apartment complex.
The mother of the child was there to pick-up her son and the estranged father, 44 year-old Kevin Bybee, was not responding to calls or knocks on the door.
The mother contacted management at the complex this morning and apartment personnel unlocked the door, entered the apartment and discovered the
bodies before police arrived.
Officers confirmed that they were both deceased from gunshot wounds. After a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the father shot his 9 year old son, Andres Chateau, then shot himself.
In March 2022, the apartment complex management began eviction proceedings against Bybee for unpaid rent.
