Subject in custody following stabbing death in St. Petersburg

Early this morning, officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to a call for service.

At 2:02am, SPPD received a call from the tenant at 3201 Burlington Ave N, concerning trouble he was having with an individual. He reported that he caught a woman who was visiting his apartment, doing drugs in his bathroom.

When officers arrived, they could hear a struggle inside, so they forced their way in and found the suspect, 46 year-old Tomeka Colin and the tenant who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victim received first aid, but did not survive.

Colin was arrested and faces a 2nd degree murder charge.
