Teen charged with arson in connection with a fire at Tarpon Springs home

Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue and Police personnel responded to a structure fire to a residence in the 400 block of E. Morgan St. on Friday, November 6, 2020
at approximately 8 a.m.

A TSPD police officer, on duty in the area, wasnadvised of a fire at the location. Upon arrival he observed smoke coming from an open front door and assisted the occupants in evacuating the structure.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was arson.

TSPD detectives subsequently arrested a 14 year-old male and charged him with first degree arson.

Three of the residents of the incident location were transported to Tampa General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.  There was also an earlier report of a dog rescued from the home.

The parties involved in this incident are not being identified due to Marsy’s Law.


It has been almost 13 years since the inception of IONTB.
