Teen injured running across US Hwy 19 in Palm Harbor

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers continue to investigate a crash that injured a 14 year-old boy crossing US Hwy 19 just north of Alderman Road.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020.

An SUV driven by a 63 year-old female from Holiday was traveling northbound on US Hwy 19 in the left center lane just north of Alderman Road. A second vehicle, a van, was operated by a 70 year-old male from New Port Richey and traveling northbound behind the SUV.

The 14 year-old male pedestrian was walking along the east shoulder of the roadway and attempted to run across the highway. In doing so, he entered the path of the SUV and was struck despite the driver slowing but unable to stop. The driver of the van was unable to stop, rear-ended the SUV, and ran over the pedestrian.

Bayflite 3 landed on US Hwy 19 to transport the teen to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Troopers say he suffered serious injuries.
