Troopers continue to investigate a fatal crash closing US-19 at Curlew Road

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a fatal crash.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 along the northbound lanes of US-19, just north of Curlew Road

The crash involved a Nissan sedan driven by a 23 year-old male from Holiday and a Dairy truck. The driver of the sedan was transported in grave condition to Mease Countyside Hospital where he died from his injuries. The driver of the truck was medically evaluated at the scene.

For unknown reason, the driver of the Nissan collided with the rear of the trailer towed by the truck.

As of 8:30 a.m., the northbound lanes of US-19 were closed and drivers should expect delays and seek alternate travel routes.
