Troopers investigate DUI crash on Keystone Road that left two bicyclists dead

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a crash that occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. The crash occurred along Keystone Road near Meadows Drive.

Troopers say that 31 year-old Cory Corrado was driving westbound on Keystone Road approaching Meadows Drive. A second vehicle, an SUV, was traveling eastbound on Keystone Road.

Corrado was passing other vehicles in the eastbound lane in a no passing zone. The driver of the SUV steered to the outside shoulder to avoid a collision. Unsuccessful, the front left of Corrado’s vehicle collided with the left rear of the SUV. The impact caused the SUV to rotate and overturn onto the south roadway shoulder. The SUV continued across a paved bicycle trail where the vehicle collided with a tandem two-person bicycle.

The two occupants of the bicycle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The bicyclists were only identified as a 58 year-old male and a 50 year-old female, both from Odessa.

Both Corrado and the 33 year-old driver of the SUV only suffered minor injuries, according to FHP.

Following the crash, FHP Troopers arrested Cory Corrado of Port Richey, for two counts each of DUI Manslaughter (Drugs) and Vehicular Homicide.
