Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a crash that occurred in the northbound lanes of I-275 at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Investigators say that an Autopros tow truck, operated by a 62 year-old male from Lutz, was traveling northbound on I-275 near the 36 mileport on the Hillsborough County side of the Howard Frankland Bridge.

A Middlesex construction vehicle was parked along the outside shoulder at the 36 milepost ahead of a construction lane closure sign.

Troopers say that the towtruck operator lost control of the vehicle, entered into the paved shoulder, and collided with the rear of the construction vehicle.

Both vehicles were redirected across the roadway and came to rest along the inside shoulder and travel lanes.

The construction truck driver, a 49 year-old male driver and Palm Harbor resident, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. The passenger, a 25 year-old male suffered only minor injuries.

The driver of the tow truck was also treated for minor injuries.
