Troopers investigate fatal crash killing a construction worker flagging traffic on 118th Avenue

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating a fatality crash involving a construction worker.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:11 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, on 118th Avenue near 43rd Street N as part of the Gateway construction project.

According to FHP, a 77-year-old man was driving a 2017 Dodge Journey traveling westbound on 118th Avenue North, approaching 43rd Street North, and collided with a 55-year-old male construction worker flagging traffic.

The construction worker was transported to Northside hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The investigation continues.
