Troopers Says Motorcyclist Killed After Rear-ended by Drunk Driver in Hillsborough

Trooper from the the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Hillsborough County.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:08 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019.  Frank Fischer, age 35 of Tampa, was traveling southbound, in a Ford F250, on I-75 approaching Gibsonton Drive in the outside lane. 

A 23 year-old Riverview man was traveling on a Suzuki GXSR motorcycle in front of Fishcher.

The Ford F250 struck the rear of the motorcycle ejecting the motorcyclist from the bike which then burst into flames.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Fischer fled the scene and was located a short time later at a nearby Lowe’s by Hillsborough County deputies.

Fischer was arrested by FHP troopers for DUI Manslaugher and Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death.
