Two Boca Ciega High Students Arrested for Possessing a Handgun at Football Game in Pinellas Park
Two 17 year-old students were arrested last night at a high school football game being played at Pinellas Park High School. The school is located at 6305 118th Avenue North.
According to Pinellas Park Police, both students had possession of a back pack that contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun that was loaded with two rounds.
The gun was observed by a spectator who saw both students showing the gun off inside the back pack, at which time the spectator informed police of the incident. This occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m on Friday, August 18, 2017.
A Pinellas Park Police School Resource Officer who was already at the game approached the student who was in possession of the back pack.
A search of the back pack was conducted which revealed the gun as seen by the witness. During the questioning of both students they admitted to being in possession of the gun and to having had the gun earlier in the day while at their school, Boca Ciega High School.
The gun was not reported stolen and it is unknown at this time how or where the gun was obtained from.
Both were charged with felony possession of a weapon on school property.
