On January 14, 2019 around 5:08 a.m., a 2001 Toyota Tundra driven by 23 year-old Joseph Caradonna was traveling eastbound on 1st Ave South in the center lane.
Independent Cab #69, a 2002 Mercury, driven by 28 year-old Kerry Rashad Murphy was traveling southbound on 48th St. when it tried to cross 1st Ave South.
Murphy failed to yield to the Toyota and struck it. The taxicab spun a few times and came to a rest at the south curb of 1st Ave South.
The Toyota continued eastbound on 1st Avenue, but veered off the road and crashed into two trees at 4720 1st Avenue South.
Both drivers were seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation.
Why are y’all not mentioning the truck driver was intoxicated . The cab did not hit the truck .
