 Uber Driver Found By Pinellas Deputy Shot and in Crashed Chevy Malibu

Detectives assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Robbery & Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting that injured an Uber driver in unincorporated Clearwater.

According to detectives, at about 4 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, deputies found a damaged 2012 Chevrolet Malibu in the construction area near the intersection of Ulmerton Road and 40th Street North in unincorporated Clearwater.

Deputies stopped to check the vehicle and found, 33-year-old Terence Baxter of Brandon, unresponsive in the front driver seat.

Deputies determined Baxter was having a medical issue and called paramedics to the scene.

Paramedics responded and transported Baxter to Bayfront Medical Center hospital for a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Detectives say Baxter later informed deputies that he had been “jumped”.

Detectives confirm Baxter is employed as an Uber driver and he was on duty at the time of the incident.

There is no information on a suspect at this time.
