Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue were called to a crash that occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019.
The crash occurred in the 1300 block of South Missouri Avenue.
Investigators say 54-year-old Franklin Rowland of Clearwater was crossing Missouri Avenue, in a wheelchair, was struck by a vehicle just south of Lakeview Drive.
He was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert where he died of his injuries.
Rowland was not crossing at a crosswalk when he was struck, police say.
Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed for a few hours as the investigation was conducted.
The 23 year-old driver of the vehicle, a 2007 Honda pickup, remained on scene and the investigation continues.
