Victim dies following overnight stabbing in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Police investigators are on the scene of a stabbing.  It occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at a home at 4827 Haines Rd. North.

The victim, identified as 18 year-old Justin Schmitt, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died from his injuries.

Investigators believe he had a quarrel with someone known to him at his own home that turned violent.

Police detained a man at the scene and he is being questioned at this time.  No charges at this time in this open and ongoing investigation.
