Woman Facing Attempted First Degree Murder Charges After Shooting Man in Dunedin Apartment Complex

Pinellas County deputies arrested 21 year-old Tikerria Nashay Bell of Dunedin after she shot a man in Dunedin.

At about 6:58 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019, deputies were called to the MacAlpine Apartment Complex in Dunedin. Deputies arrived to the apartment located at 331 Duncan Loop West after being informed of a man who had been shot.

When deputies arrived, the 26-year-old male victim, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Detectives learned prior to the shooting, the victim and his girlfriend, 21-year-old Tikerria Bell, were involved in a verbal altercation, which was heard by witnesses. Bell was not on scene when deputies arrived.

Detectives made contact with Bell and interviewed her at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office North District Station located at 2496 Bayshore Boulevard, in Dunedin.

During her interview with detectives, Bell advised she and the victim were arguing and she told the victim to leave the residence. According to Bell, the victim then struck her in the face, so she left the bedroom to retrieve her firearm from her purse. Bell admitted to detectives she was “mad” and her intent was to get the gun, return with the gun, and shoot the victim.

Bell stated the victim attempted to close the bedroom door after she obtained the firearm, but was unsuccessful. Bell told detectives she was able to force her way into the bedroom with the firearm. Bell said the victim placed her in a chokehold and she shot the victim one time, in his left abdomen. Bell informed detectives she then left the residence with her 18 month-old daughter, without contacting 911.

Detectives arrested Bell at 2:45 p.m. and charged her with one count of Attempted Murder in the First Degree.

Bell was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

The 18-month-old child has been placed with family members.

The victim is in stable condition.

The investigation continues.
