Driver dead following rollover crash in Clearwater

Clearwater Police continue to investigate a single vehicle fatality crash.

The crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019 on northbound Frontage Road approaching Drew Street.

Woman died in rollover crash on frontage road in Clearwater

The victim has been identified as 57 year-old Virginia Witherspoon of St. Petersburg.

Investigators say she was travelling northbound in her 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac when, for an unknown reason, left the roadway striking a utility pole.

The vehicle was then propelled into an adjacent steel Florida Department of Transportation sign pole killing her instantly.
