The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash that occurred approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019.
According to troopers, Anthony Shaw, age 45 of St. Petersburg was traveling southbound on US-301, south of Bloomingdale Ridge Drive, in the northbound lanes. His 2001 Acura 3.2 TL struck a 2017 Chevy pickup truck that was traveling northbound on US-301. The pickup truck was operated by 62 year-old Deborah Fordom of Riverview.
The two vehicles collided head-on and Shaw suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. Fordom was transported to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.
FHP Troopers are working to determine if Shaw was impaired, had a medical emergency, or a combination of both that led to the crash.
