CLEARWATER — Detectives with the Clearwater Police Department continue to investigate a shooting that occurred Sunday on Coronado Drive on Clearwater Beach. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting itself at this time.
According to police, many of the individuals involved in the events leading up to the shooting were from outside Clearwater, including people from Hillsborough and Polk counties.
During the investigation, multiple individuals were detained for investigative purposes. One person has since been charged with criminal offenses.
A 17-year-old Brandon resident was charged with obstructing or resisting an officer without violence, carrying a concealed firearm, and possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years old. Investigators said the teen ran from the scene of the shooting and was detained a short time later.
The victim who was injured in the shooting remains hospitalized. Authorities said the victim is expected to recover.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. While no arrest has been made in connection with the gunfire, information released by Clearwater Police indicates investigators may have identified a suspect.
