Amazon driver arrested for multiple automobile burglaries while delivering packages in Unincorporated Clearwater

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Officer were dispatched to reports of a male subject burglarizing vehicles in the 700 block of Bough Avenue. The incident occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

Arriving deputies quickly apprehended the subject who was arrested and delivered to the Pinellas County Jail.  The subject was wearing an Amazon uniform and delivering packages for the company according to police.

Dane Derango, age 26 of St. Petersburg, was observed by a witness entering her unlocked vehicle.  Derango was also seen trying to open two other car doors as captured by a Ring camera.

Derango was charged with two counts of Burglary of a Unoccupied Conveyance- attempted, two counts of Burglary of a Unoccupied Conveyance and one count of Burglary to an Unoccupied Dwelling.

He delivered one package that ripped open but the contents were not removed. At another residence, police say he removed a Budha statue from the front door area and damaged three potted plants.  

Police report he refused to cooperate with the investigation and it is unknown if any other victims were involved.
