Update to the fatal Labor Day hit and run on the Clearwater Memorial Causeway.  Update provided by Clearwater Police this evening following a 9 pm press conference.

Christopher Patrick Weed, 29, of 840 Hall St., has been charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury. Video from the beach area shows the bicycle at 6:10 a.m. near the roundabout; two minutes later, a green 1997 Nissan pickup is seen at the same place. A couple of minutes later, the accident happened on Memorial Causeway. An anonymous tipster called CrimeStoppers and pointed us in the direction of Weed, who works at one of the beach hotels. Great police work by our patrol and detective divisions led to his arrest tonight. He will be taken to the Pinellas County Jail later tonight.
