On Friday, August 26, 2022 at approximately 6:00 a.m., deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to Starkey Road north of Park Boulevard in the City of Seminole for a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
According to investigators, a 27 year-old male driver was operating a 2015 GMC pickup truck northbound on Starkey Road in the curb lane.
Investigators say the pedestrian, 85 year-old Michael Gravino, was walking from west to east across Starkey Road, not in a designated crosswalk.
As the motorist transitioned into the center lane of Starkey Road, he struck Gravino with his vehicle.
Gravino was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Speed and impairment are not factors in this crash, according to deputies.
Next of kin has been notified.
