FHP Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Bradenton Saturday Evening

21 Year-old Luke Plasencia of Lakewood Ranch, Florida was killed in a motorcycle crash in Bradenton, Florida on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. on State Road 70 approaching Lena Road.

Plascencia was traveling on a 2013 Honda motorcycle westbound on State Road 70 approaching Lena Road in the left lane.

According to Troopers, he was attempted to change lanes, into the center lane, but failed to judge the distance between himself and the vehicle ahead, a 2017 Toyota van.  He struck the rear of a van and was subsequently struck by a 2017 Ford Mustang traveling westbound in the center lane.

Plascencia, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

Neither the five occupants of the van nor the Mustang driver were reported to have any serious injuries.

No charges are pending according to investigators.  At this time it is unknown if alcohol and/or chemical impairment were involved as the investigation continues.
