Pedestrian Struck and Killed Crossing Starkey Road in Seminole

The Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash in Seminole.

According to investigators, at about 1:23 a.m. on March 17, 2019, a 21-year-old Seminole man was driving his 2018 Mazda 3 northbound on Starkey Road, just north of Park Boulevard.

Investigators say, for unknown reasons, 41-year-old David Cunningham of Seminole was crossing Starkey Road from east to west, when he was struck by the Mazda 3. Cunningham was not in a designated crosswalk.

Cunningham sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

Impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Next of kin has been notified.
