Largo Man with Weapon Arrested for Kidnapping and Assault

December 5, 2014

On December 5, 2014 at approximately 10:06 AM, deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 10555 Park Boulevard North in Seminole for an armed subject. Upon their arrival they observed Dracius E. Coley dragging 29 year-old Ashley Morrer of Bradenton up an embankment behind Tripps Diner.

A second unnamed victim was also involved and their identity is protected in accordance with Florida State Statute 119.071(2)(j)(1).

The victims reported Coley arrived at Tripps Diner on the patio area with what appeared to be an AR15 rifle slung over his shoulder, later determined to be a BB gun, and made victim #2 leave with him by force. Coley pointed the weapon at Moorer during the initial altercation.

Coley then dragged victim #2 to the rear of the establishment where he got on top of victim #2 and began choking. He then attempted to leave the area by dragging victim #2 up an embankment behind the establishment. However, deputies arrived on scene and were able to take him into custody without incident.

Coley was charged with Kidnapping, 2 Counts Aggravated Assault, Domestic Battery By Strangulation, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.

The investigation continues.
