Motorcyclist killed in crash on overpass headed from Seminole Boulevard to Bay Pines

Fire rescue units from Madeira Beach Fire Department and Seminole Fire Rescue responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcyclist at approximately 11:04 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Arriving fire rescue units and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office located an adult male critically injured on the overpass from southbound Seminole Boulevard onto Bay Pines Boulevard.

According to investigators, 57-year-old James Bartlett, Jr. was traveling southbound on Seminole Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he approached a left curve, and his motorcycle collided with a guardrail. Bartlett was ejected from the 2005 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle.

According to investigators, speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash.

Bartlett was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital, where he died.

The investigation continues.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) was called to the scene.
